Windows Vista Security Guide 1.2 Released

Microsoft has released an updated version of the Windows Vista Security Guide (where they released 1.1 in dec)

The Windows Vista Security Guide provides recommendations and tools to further harden Windows Vista. Use the GPOAccelerator tool in this Solution Accelerator to efficiently establish the Enterprise Client (EC) environment or the Specialized Security – Limited Functionality (SSLF) environment.

Obscurity is not Security. It can be hard to make Windows Vista secure. Especially when it is closed source.

Well, maybe you can look at it this way. Microsoft do spend quite a lot of effort making use of open standards which had been tested to be secure. Well, you might argue that microsoft might have implemented it in such a way that it wasnt as secure. But without IPR, it's very hard for innovation to occur too. And Microsoft do invite hackers to hack it's Windows Operating Systems months ago. In fact, Microsoft Windows Source Code is available to MVPs in selected countries, and various government bodies around the world. So it's open under protection. :)
